Hundreds of them, Catharine, which is why our evidence of usage has to
include borrowers as well as stock. One big challenge there is finding
non-intrusive ways of categorising our customers, which is why I know for a
fact that if somebody demanded comprehensive statistics on all the usual
suspects we would under-report quite considerably. At some point the level
of intrusion involved in divining whether a customer fits into one or more
target categories is bound to compromise the library's core function of
being a friendly, non-threatening, welcoming informal learning environment
within the community. Especially when labels aren't always intuitive or
consistently-applied. I have a secret dread of being asked for a total
figure for visually-impaired readers; I don't fancy being the one having to
stop people at the entrance to ask if they wear glasses.

Hello,
Doesn't anyone else have social inclusion targets (e.g. asylum
seekers/refugees, lesbian & gay, teenage boys, etc.) ?
Just curious,
Catharine
