medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Which reminds me that I should have thanked everyone for their advice on my
visit to Chartres (which was wonderful) - but if anyone else is planning to
go there, do not do so by car before August - the middle of the town is
being dug up and the traffic is horrendous - it took us half an hour to get
out of the centre!
thanks
Cate

when i last visited, in a winter during the '80s, i was amazed at the "lived
in" feeling which it had --something which was totally lacking in Chartres
or
almost any other French building i had been in.
