medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Again, as I mentioned in a prior note, biblical texts are often combined
and/or conflated in liturgical texts. The 'lux magna,' seen often in
liturgical texts of this season, comes from Is 9, the first reading for
Matins of Christmas. V. 2 is the famous 'Populus qui ambulabat in tenebris
vidit lucem magnam.'
