Dear friends,
May I draw colleagues' attention to the few paragraphs under the title
"Copyright and the Ordnance Survey National Grid" on page nine of issue 73
of Cartographiti; distributed just a month ago. It contains some notes by
Tim Padfield, Copyright Officer at The National Archives, who has been in
contact with the Ordnance Survey's legal advisor.
Sitescope copied most of their 6" material from the RGS collection (I'm
sure Oscar would not allow any dodgy copying to take place) and recognised
the problem of locating the sheets on the CDs. Their best solution was to
give a hardcopy of David Archer's reprint of the 1905-6 volume of County
series indexes away with each disk. By the way, these index volumes are
very useful; there are two: one for Scotland and one for England and Wales.
Best wishes
Tinho
