medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Athanasius is one of the Alexandrian saints whose relics ended up in Venice.
He is on the right wall, in S. Zaccaria, next to S. Zaccaria who, as father
of John the Baptist is not in either church of John the B [S. Giovanni in
Bragora, S. Zandegola] but has his own church. John the Almsgiver [another
Alexandrian] is in the church of John the B & not in the church of John the
A [S. Giovanni Elemosinaria] at Rialto.
Lapsed Baptists are easily confused.
