BUILDING COPYRIGHT TOOLKITS
11 July 2005, London
Copyright and licensing are important strategic issues, whose effective management can lead to the maximisation of asset exploitation and crucially the reduction of copyright infringements.
This workshop will develop a complete toolkit for introducing an institutional copyright policy covering both the internal management of rights, copyright and licensing compliance for the use of third party materials held by the institution. Participants will consider staff and user expectations, planning requirements, restrictions and how to create an environment where copyright is handled appropriately. The afternoon will build upon the areas covered in the morning and examine different types of licensing models whilst alerting participants to the limitations of income generation from copyright and licensing.
Using a lively presentation style, the trainer will encourage active participation in a relaxed and friendly learning environment.
BY THE END OF THE DAY, PARTICIPANTS WILL HAVE:
* identified the need for a structured and strategic approach to copyright
* examined various modules for the development of copyright policies
* produced a plan for their own copyright policy
* identified how to successfully exploit intellectual property rights
* exchanged ideas, strategies and best practice examples within a supportive learning environment
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This workshop is aimed at senior managers, project leaders and decision makers who already have a basic understanding of copyright law by attending one of the basic courses on copyright and wish to learn more about how it can be successfully managed within their working environment. It will also be of interest to anyone who wants to start writing a copyright policy for their organisation.
