Further Practical Statistics for Health Research is a 5-day course
accredited by the University of Oxford.
It will take place in on 23, 25, 27 May, 1, 3 June 2005.

This course is designed for health care professionals or graduate students
who already have some research experience and an understanding of basic
statistical principles, and who wish to develop their statistical expertise.
By the end of the course participants should have an understanding of the
principles of
• Analysis of variance (ANOVA)
• Pearson, Spearman and Kappa correlation coefficients
• Bland and Altman method of assessing agreement
• Multiple logistic regression
• Survival analysis and meta analysis
The sessions will be taught informally and interactively. They will
emphasise the practical application of statistical methods to real-life
problems, rather than statistical theory, although an understanding of the
basic concepts will be expected. The sessions will include time for
students to explore and analyse data using a statistical package (STATA).
Familiarity with SPSS for Windows is required.
