Hi Alan, well of course now we have you and me, we have fulfilled the
last part of your criteria, but for the rest, a couple of quick points:
we believe we can avoid failure by using a modern web site that allows
people to register, and update their information themselves, so that the
personal commitment is that of the individual members, not one
overstretched focal point. Similarly people can add web links themselves
so no one person has to do the job of finding new info. With respect to
geo-tectonics, we provide nothing new in terms of a mailing list, simply
an easy access to that mailing list's web site so people can search its
archives easily.
Hopefully your optimism (and ours) will be rewarded by a large list of
members so when we need to find a list of people working in or on India
(for example), we can use the web site's members list search facility to
find them easily.
Or maybe no one will sign up (can't win em all!).
cheers
Mark
