medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Hello,
As someone involved in the Matrix website, I feel bound to point out the
numerous additions to the site, which may not have been evident at a glance.
Monastic Matrix (monasticmatrix.org) has recently moved to a new home at the
University of Southern California.
Recent additions to the project include:
Over 3000 bibliographic entries
A complete, digitized version of Dugdale’s Monasticon (the only one online)
150 images of monastic architecture, collected from the Max Hutzel Collection
of the Getty Research Library
Profiles of German monastic houses contributed by Alison Beach
Contributions of bibliographic material and images from Frank Henderson,
Margaret Schaus, Pete Schermerhorn, and many others
In addition,
We are sponsoring our first annual panel at Kalamazoo this year.
We continue to link and update all of our records in order to make them fully
searchable.
We are planning:
Projects to digitize already published, but difficult-to-find materials
relating to religious women
Collaborations with other electronic projects, such as Feminae and the Index
of Christian Art
A regular conference on religious women
Programming updates to allow for electronic submission and review process, as
well as more extended interactive use of the site
As you can see, we have been busy and have plans for future development. Let
me remind everyone that we continue to solicit participation in the project
and contributions of images, data, documents, and bibliography. Please
contact Lisa Bitel ([log in to unmask]) if you (or anyone you know) would like to
make a contribution. We rely on the generosity of the scholarly community.
Sincerely,
June Mecham
