medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear André-Yves,
thanks for providing proof that I was led into my faux pas by the faux-fuyant of the faux-semblant!
Explicit feliciter ... G

As a French, trying to speak, read and write French better than English, I
have never found "faux pas" written in an hyphenated form ("faux-pas") ; but
we have "faux-bourdon" (in English "fauxbourdon"), "faux-filet" (sirloin),
"faux-fuyant" (subterfuge), and "faux-semblant" (pretence, sham).
Doctus cum libro, thanks to dictionnaries (the French Robert and the English
Harrap).
Best
ANDRE-YVES BOURGES
