medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Very true! On another list, there was a grand commotion about "Auvergne" vs.
"the Auvergne." (I oppose the "the.") And on yet another, a brawl over
"religiosity" and its pejorative (or not) connotations. (I support the
former.) Everyone ran to dictionaries, which gave confusing and conflicting
info. Neither argument was ever finally settled and I offer these as
examples of just what you're writing about. I heartily suggest that this
list let the matters lie. I also suggest that we close the book on "faux
pas." And I do realize that I started all this non-medieval traffic for
which I apologize.
