Devising and developing exciting new initiatives, you will move our library
service forward and maximise its relevance to the local community. This will
involve managing librarians and other specialist staff, as well as leading
our Service Development Team - you will participate in this team's
development and appraisals process and work closely with colleagues to
achieve set targets and objectives. As a Chartered Librarian, it is
essential that you have skills and experience to liaise with elected
members, take responsibility for the relevant budgets and establish strong
corporate and community-based partnerships.

Focusing on our contracts with internal and external suppliers, you will
ensure that these are in line with the Gershon requirements, and will
renegotiate them as and when appropriate. Another major aspect of this role
will involve overseeing arrangements for stock distribution and circulation.
You will use your exemplary organisational skills to manage resource
allocation, participate in financial planning, seek out alternative funding
streams and prepare reports as necessary. Throughout your work, you will
establish and maintain the highest standards, enabling our front-line staff
to deliver a truly outstanding public library service.
