I agree with Mark.
It is difficult to determine paleostresses in highly
deformed terrains. Cauchy stress that is determined via
stress tensor inversion is sometimes meaningless in those
regions (See my latest article in JSG (vol. 27, pp. 161-170)).
So, I am not sure, in the first place, whether stress tensor
inversion based on the Wallace-Bott hypothesis is successful
for your problem, but the application is worth trying.
