I saw the article in WMN - very interesting.
There were a number of attempts at iron mining all over the SW particularly
during the late 1860's and early 1870's and many of them failed to produce
much usable iron because there 'ore' was of insufficient quality
It is a bit of a coincidence that this mine seems to be very close to the
Permian (new red sandstone) outcrop on the beach at Thurlestone, which to
the uninitiated looks to be full of iron.
However I don't know of any references to the mine and would be most
interested if anyyone knows of anything
