Different disciplines, different takes. Students of early humanism
(literature, rhetoric, ethics, etc.) might think first of the Veneto.
And especially of Padova, home of the leading first-generation and
second-generation humanists (Lovato Lovati, Albertino Mussato), well
ahead of such third-generation Johnnies-come-lately as Petrarch and
Boccaccio.
