If you haven't already done so, you might also look at
Jeffrey Hamburger, _The Visual and the Visionary: Art
and Female Spirituality in Late Medieval Germany_ (New
York, 1998), which includes a discussion of some
interesting imagery, such as _Sponsa_ pulling Christ
into the bedchamber, and reaching out for him in bed.
