Hi, Cathy,
School photographs -- a great topic! I recall having seen a documentary film on
German television (last year?) which followed a school photographer in Germany
going from school to school and commenting on the children, his line of work
and its meaning. I couldn't find reference to that film in a brief web-search,
but I did find the following, from 1999. It seems a German film production
company was producing a film for children's television and sought contact with
people born 1910-1925 who wouldn't mind sharing their school pictures and
talking about, among other things, their memories of how they felt being
photographed at school. A call to the production company (phone number below)
might yield info about the film itself and/or details as to the material they
gathered. If I come up with the name of the film I saw (which I don't think
was related to the project described below), I'll be sure to let you know.
With best wishes,
Kristen Nawrotzki
