Hi Tim
Sorry to take ages with this, but I have had a couple of thoughts - hope
it's not too late. I have attached a sheet with 2 outlines for suggestions.
They are sketchy as I have not spent too much time on them, but I can do
more / clarify things if you think it is worthwhile.
Thanks
Sue Mason

Subject: Research Prioritisation 2005
Faculty is an affiliated organisation to the HTA (www.ncchta.org). Each year
we submit our suggestions into the HTA system. So far this has been a very
successful system which has produced an investment by the NHS in Emergency
Medicine research of more than £1 million.
Suggestions have to be made in a particular format, which can be found at
http://www.ncchta.org/getinvolved.htm#Suggest
The Faculty Research Committee collect and prioritise the suggestions to be
submitted to the HTA (being an affiliate organisation means that our
questions get a higher priority, although anyone can make a suggestion for
research funding through the HTA Website). We need your suggestions for the
highest priorities for Emergency Medicine research over the next few years.
Please send me your suggestions in the HTA Format. The headings should be:
1) The technology to be investigated ('technology' can be an intervention, a
diagnostic test, a specific aspect of patient care).
2) The patient group and clinical setting.
3) The importance to the NHS.
4) The current evidence base.
Only a couple of sentences are required under each heading, so it should not
take too long. I would hope to collate the results by the end of this week -
the future development of Academic Emergency Medicine needs your
suggestions!!
