Hi, I was just wondering what peoples thoughts were on the interpretation of cut marks often seen circling the proximal articulations of metapodials. Binford's book Ancient Men and Modern Myths describes these as dismemberment marks, but I have seen several bone reports suggesting that they are skinning marks. I thought skinning marks were usually those that circle the distal articulation. I am interested to know how other people interpret these cut marks.
Thanks,
Emma-Jayne
