The only reference I could find gave an age of 4-5 years for all vertebrae:

I am studying vertebral morphology in North American artiodactyla, and I have noticed that the axis seems to be one of the earlier fusing vertebrae. Unfortunately most of the specimens I have looked at do not include age data, and while I did try to note the general appearence of the epiphyses, I did not record specifically which ones were fused.
