*Two PhD-student positions*
PhD-STUDENT positions for the functional imaging of social cognitions (4
years). The Social Brain Lab, a young, dynamic, friendly and
multicultural research group founded around Christian Keysers in the
newly founded neuro-imaging center in Groningen (the
Netherlands,http://www.bcn-nic.nl/index_research_empathy.html) is
searching for 2 PhD students to investigate the neural basis of empathy.
The group investigates the neural basis of how we understand the
actions, emotions and sensations of others in both healthy volunteers
and patients with deficits in empathy. Methods used include fMRI and
psychophysical measurements together with investigations of patients
with specific brain lesions in collaboration with Ralph Adolphs. PhD
candidates should demonstrate strong interest in both neuroscience and
the technical aspects of Neuro-Imaging and a good knowledge of English.
Candidates should send a C.V. with a letter of motivation to

generous, according to EU regulations and include a mobility allowance
to cover the additional costs of transnational mobility. Students will
have access to the a PhD program given in english at the university of
groningen. In holland most people have excellent knowledge of english
rendering it easy for non-dutch candidates to integrate in the
multicultural dutch society.
