Hathersage is a big village/small town to the west of Sheffield, in the
Peak District National Park. You can see it on this map:
http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?client=public&X=425000.492028395&Y=375000.689207389&width=500&height=300&gride=423300.492028395&gridn=381519.689207389&srec=0&coordsys=gb&db=freegaz&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=&advanced=&local=&localinfosel=&kw=&inmap=&table=&ovtype=&zm=0&in.x=5&in.y=6&scale=500000
There is probably a bus stop even closer, but the youth hostel is about
half a mile from the station, which is on the Manchester-Sheffield line. I
was involved in booking the venue, and the hope is that as many people as
possible will stay for the weekend. However, someone DESPERATE to avoid
spending nights away from London could, for example, catch the 07.25 am
from St Pancras, arriving Hathersage at 10.32, and return on the 19.42,
arriving back in London at 23.23 (this assumes the timetable next March is
the same as next weekend, and you have to change in Sheffield. ... but the
Peak District is really nice!
