>Could I recommend to everyone engaged in this debate the International
>Productivity Monitor, a a journal published by the Canadian Centre for the
>Study of Living Standards, available online at http://www.csls.ca/ipm.asp
Yes indeed, looks a good academic journal, and free, and online.
But what is the general aim of the focus on productivity? Doe it not
indicate an ambivalent attitude to human labour? Is hman labour something
to be saved? Or conserved? Or nurtured?
For a contrast look at the UN website.
http://unstats.un.org/unsd/demographic/products/socind/unempl.htm It
lists 50 countries where the unemployment rate is greater than 10% -
includes Poland 20%, South Africa 30%, Argentine 16%, Jamaica 16%, Palestine
26%, Algeria 27%. All over the world!
Does anyone know of a journal devoted to unemployment?
Anyone care to spell out the ideology that gives productivity and
unemployment such differnent statuses?
