Bichard project not ready until 2010
A COMPUTER system ordered to prevent police
intelligence failings identified following
the Soham murder inquiry is three years
behind schedule.
The £167 million system was recommended by
the Bichard Inquiry, which analysed why police
procedures failed to stop murderer Ian Huntley
landing a job at a school in Soham close to the
homes of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman.
....
The punch line:
The Home Office confirmed the national IT system
had been delayed, and said the new launch date
reflected the "complexity" of the project.
A spokesman said:
"Progress has been significantly re-engineered
as the scale and complexity of impact became
apparent."
Ah well ... Once again, a News Year's wish for you all:--
When you awake on Monday morning 1 January 2006, may
you not be induced to feel that your day has been
significantly re-engineered.
Ted.
