For some of the sorts of poetry I like, I'm pretty sure there isn't.
Not because it's super-special, and not necessarily because it's
simply rotten stuff, but because irrespective of its artistic merits
it just sounds funny to most people. A few here and there will like it
and find it valuable, and they won't be a super-special few but just a
statistical minority like the statistical minority who frequent
websites devoted to amputee porn. This isn't a drastic condition to be
remedied, and no amount of PR could possibly remedy it. No rising tide
of poetry-appreciation will ever float my boat.
