One lives, Alison in the USA of this Evangelical nature hating plus
exploiting Administration and these kinds of letters and thoughts kind of
come on as a weird-counter - dare one say "Satanic" baptismal shower
through the swiss cheeze cranium of everyday life. One just goes mirroring
what goes on up there in those what seem like veritably life threatening,
criminal realms of those people's thoughts.
However, I think the letter writer wanted to draw attention to the fact that
these major natural events - possibly caused by human (well, possibly
include those gassy cows) engineering - seem so pervasive these days.
Australians and Californians are probably already in throes of "survivor
guilt" - the weather here, at least, so beautiful these warm, sunny days.
The San Francisco soul - liberal et al - is probably begging a big
earthquake to balance things out!
But the whole thing - global - seems overwhelming the writerly proactive
response, non? One hears Lear in the ear, "We are but flies to x,ys and zs.
