Thanks, Anny, these R sketches intrigue, a certain kind of intimacy in this
format. Years ago I got and somehow lost a publication of Rilke's diary that
he kept while he was Rodin's secretary. I remember Rilke's complaint about
R's studio. The pervasive white plaster used to for molds of his bronzes
sculpture (what is the right word? "maquette"??) literally blinded his eyes.
I suspect this experience was something akin to being in Plato's cave -
where instead of the dark shadows of pure forms (that precede the
realization of a certain kind of art), Rilke found himself in the middle of
white ones.
Now maybe that's a thought. Back this one goes to "silent' thought.
