Well, I've had the honour of reading a whole poem again - by request of the
audience. Twice, if I remember properly - once, when I was in my early
twenties with a sweet love poem, and about twenty something years later for
a much sadder and longer poem ... Both times it was at a university -
first, UWA, and secondly, ECU. It does happen ... My friend Kay Cairns, who
Janet saw and heard recently, was asked to read a poem again at the same
reading the next month (Exit Wounds) - Does that count? :-) She hadn't
brought it with her so quickly wrote it out ... If she could remember it
that well, I don't know why she didn't just recite it, but - hey - she was
probably frightened of her nerves blocking it out.
Good night, world.
