I'm not sure if this really helps the discussion, but here's a little story
to show a bit on my take:
Recently, I was doing an interview with a local journalist on some pieces I
have in an art exhibition. Along with being a professor at a university and a
practicing graphic designer, I also do "fine" art, which in this case consists
of large pieces that are digital image/mixed media assemblages. She was asking
me about them, and I telling her about the conceptual basis for them, and how
I was exploring the concept of semiotics and "place" and etc., etc., then I
said, "and on top of all of that, to be honest, I just like to make and build
things."
