DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL & THEORETICAL CHEMISTRY
THE UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD
Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Laser Chemistry
ACADEMIC-RELATED RESEARCH STAFF GRADE 1A: Salary £19,460 - £29128
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistantship funded by
the Leverhulme Trust on the application of periodically poled materials for
the generation of uv laser radiation. The post is in the group of Professor
Gus Hancock and will involve the use of cw diode and other solid state
lasers in frequency doubling and mixing schemes in order to generate new
wavelengths in the uv. Applications will involve quantum state resolved
probing of reaction products, observations of reactive species in gas phase
plasmas, and the detection of trace concentrations of species in atmospheric
monitoring.
Experience in one or more of these areas will be an advantage.
The post is available for a one year period initially, and then renewable
for a maximum of up to one additional year. Starting date is negotiable but
preferably before the end of 2005.
For further details of the post, including how to apply, please email
[log in to unmask] or call her on 01865 275414.
The closing date for applications is noon on 9 September 2005.
