We are seeking two organised and effective team-players, with excellent
communication and interpersonal skills, to fill the following posts based
in Senate House Library.
ACCESSING OUR ARCHIVAL & MANUSCRIPT HERITAGE (AAMH) AND STERLING LIBRARY
PROJECTS
PROJECT ASSISTANT (REF: 42/05 - WLIB)
£18,205 - £22,360 pa inc. LW
(12-months fixed-term)
As part of the AAMH Project Team, you will assist in developing a
dedicated portal interface to provide access to archives, manuscripts and
manuscript studies for lifelong learners, especially family and local
historians.
Required to provide support in identifying, creating, developing and
describing content for the lifelong learning community, you will assist in
the development of the web interface services and modules and will conduct
user needs analysis with lifelong users e.g. interviews, surveys, focus
groups. You will also, as a separate project, undertake web content
development to promote access to the Sterling Library of English literary
works.
Previous experience in creating and maintaining web content using a
content management system and of creating digital content for web pages
using digital cameras and scanning equipment is essential.

ASSISTANT ARCHIVIST (REF: 43/05 - WLIB)
£21,594 - £31,262 pa inc LW
(15-months fixed-term)
You will develop access to archive and manuscript collections by
accessioning, listing, sorting, cataloguing and indexing materials as
appropriate. These include literary and historical collections, historic
documents in the University of London Archive and artefacts. You will also
address preservation and conservation needs as appropriate. In addition
to responding to general enquiries, the role will involve assisting with
projects and exhibition/display programmes for promotional / external
events.
A relevant qualification in archives administration, previous experience
of archival work (specifically cataloguing), knowledge of ISAD(G) and
other archival standards, and an interest and enthusiasm for cataloguing
are all essential requirements. The role involves some evening/Saturday
duties.
