This is a reminder about the event happening in less than 2 weeks. We still
have a few places available and would be pleased to hear from anyone wanting
to come along but who hasn't had chance to make an application yet. We now
have 2 speakers confirmed for the afternoon who bring some very different
aspects to the discussion. Please contact me as soon as possible if you
would like to attend.
How accessible is your service?
We have invited speakers who are willing to share their knowledge of
accessibility issues within the library and information context. As we are
all responsible under new legislation for making sure that all our users
have equal access to our services, this will be a useful day for those on
the front-line. Attendance at events such as this should help your
organisation in compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act and
Special Educational Needs and Disability Act.
Jenny Harkison, RNID. Former librarian in public libraries, hopes to raise
our awareness of issues relating to hearing impairment and the use of
library services.
Charlie Howorth, Recognition Express. Guiding visually impaired users around
our services.
Jenny Carroll, CHEST . Software and services to improve accessibility to the
internet.
Oona Oakland, iANSYST. Providing services to people with Dyslexia.
