Colleagues might be interested in the 'Google Librarian Center'. You can
find details on this at http://www.google.com/services/librarian_center.html
but don't get too excited yet! It's essentially a Google group and at the
moment all that it seems you can do is register to be on the list - they're
the ones doing the announcing. They're particularly keen on finding out what
librarians are using to train users, and want to see the resources that we
use. Quite why they can't find this themselves using Google I'm not sure,
but there you have it.
I've emailed them to ask why, if they are interested in the views of
librarians it's not possible to post to their list and have a proper
discussion. I've also suggested that if they really want to know what we
think of them, they should host a conference and invite us along. I've yet
to get a reply. (Odd that!) That notwithstanding it might be worth joining,
just to see what developments occur.
Phil.
