Dear Alison,
We have also trialled the SED service in Reading. We invited readers to take part in a trial, which generally went well. The main problems we faced were when readers did not have the correct software. We now offer it as a general option, and print out articles for readers if we are unable to sort out problems. Most problems are solved by upgrading software or clearing temporary internet files which stop documents from being downloaded. Occasionally we have problems with Adobe that we are unable to sort out. Most people are happy with this service, particularly because it is much faster than receiving posted articles.
There is some information on our web site about SED (http://www.library.rdg.ac.uk/about/ill.html) and we also include information in our ILL leaflet. The British Library gave us permission to link to their test document, which is useful for checking that readers will be able to download documents. They are also happy to send us dummy email documents to practice downloading in training session.
If you have any questions, please let me know!
Regards,
Leanne

Hello all
We are also looking at providing the British Library's SED of ILLs to our
borrowers. I have noticed that quite a few libraries print the articles
for the borrowers, but I am concerned about the time and cost that this
will incur. Are there any libraries who forward the email and link to
their borrower to print themselves? How effective is this?
Has anyone experienced any problems with SED as a whole?
I would be grateful for any feedback.
Thank you
