No easy way around it I'm afraid
As we have to do this a LOT with our 5-hour-loan collection (inevitably with
telephone renewals) I have a complicated procedure in my circ manual which
describes the process we have to use - basically:
1 - right mouse click to view the item record from their list of checked out
items, and check the booking to make sure it doesn't start too soon (if it
starts within next 30 mins we just say no renewal allowed)
2 - if enough time elapsing before start of booking, check the item in (close
the item record, and from the list of checked out items, left click on barcode,
click copy then click on checkin tab, then edit and paste the item rabcode in.
3 - then check immediately back out again (click on check out tab and again
paste barcode in) , which will prompt for the "just before booking starts" check
out time.
Of course this only works when you do "renewals patron present" - we do all our
renewals this way (I don't have the "renewals patron present" mode on the desk
logins at all)
It is ****VERY ANNOYING*****
