Morning all,
Thanks for all your suggestions.
We managed to do it using the 'Count Use' mode in Millennium
Circulation, pointed that at the text file which I'd preceded with c:
and Bob's your Uncle!
Made a review file of all those with Item Use 3 = 1 and then updated
status and cleared Item Use 3.
Many thanks for not making me do it manually !!

Maureen/Mandy - you don't have do them manually.
You can create a review file using the text file you have; and then use
rapid update to change the status of the items in the review file.
You need to prefix the barcodes with "n:" in your text file; then use
the inventory control software in the character based system to upload
the text file to a review file.
You need to be familiar with using FTS in the character based system;
and the text file will need to be on a system that has an FTP server
running on it.
From the mainmenu:
C > CIRCULATION subsystem
A > ADDITIONAL circulation functions
P > PROCESS PC transactions
F > FTS Transfer of B321 or PC-CIRC transactions from PC (see manual
Page # 102555 for details on this step)
Once the file has been uploaded, you then want to
C > COMPARE inventory to shelf list
T > TRANSFER file of barcodes to a Review File (see manual Page #
102579)
Now that you have a review file you can use rapid or global update in
Millennium to change the item status on all the records.
Hope this helps - Eric
