As far as I understand it (from hearing from other sites, not from personal
experience), a future booking on an item prevents ALL checkouts via self-check
machines, even if the booking is far enough into the future so as not to shorten
the loan period at all.
As we rely heavily on bookings in our short loan collection, this would make a
self-service collection an impossibility for us.
