Journals Production Process Management, London, Wednesday 13th July 2005
Tutors: Sharon Duckworth, The Publishing Practice and Colin Davis, BMJ
Venue: The King's Fund, Cavendish Square, London
Course Overview
Given the ever-increasing pressures on journals production - to reduce cost,
to publish faster, to outsource more, to get articles online earlier -
Production Managers are constantly facing the need to change the way things
are done. Yet the complexity of the process, the multiple demands put upon
production, let alone the need to keep this month’s issues on schedule,
present serious challenges to those responsible for deciding how to improve
processes and for making those changes happen.
This course provides a framework for measuring the effectiveness of your
journals production processes, for deciding how and where your processes
should be improved, and for planning and implementing process change. With
real-life case studies and practical exercises, the course will enable
people responsible for journals production to use process improvement to
meet the current and forecast demands of the business.
