Oxford Journals is a division of the world's largest and oldest university
press. As a major international publisher of academic and research
journals, we publish and develop some 180 titles, the majority in
partnership with some of the world's most prestigious learned societies.
We are looking for two outstanding individuals to join our international
Library Sales Team and help us maintain and grow our sales to academic
library consortia in North America and to the professional, corporate and
specialist library market globally. Both positions are based within our
Oxford offices.
The Roles
Sole responsibility for planning, negotiating and effecting sales of our
online journal collections to the library markets described above.
Systematic research into new and developing library consortia within the
sales territories and initiation of contact with prospective customers with
a view to winning new profitable business for Oxford Journals.
Negotiation of detailed licence terms and business models with new and
existing customers via email, telephone, and face-to-face meetings
Overseas travel and attendance at relevant library conferences, industry
seminars and workshops
The skills needed
You will have a proven aptitude for successful negotiation, combined with
excellent communication and organizational skills
You will be efficient, able to prioritise tasks, and used to using your
initiative.
Knowledge of publishing and/or the North American/ professional, corporate
and specialist library market is desirable but not essential, but you must
be a quick learner, and enthusiastic about developing these major markets
for us
You will be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people at
different levels
