Which is why some time ago, I posted rather controversially that perhaps the
RLOs and chartership board posts should be paid positions within CILIP. The
post holders could be professionals looking to downsize without retiring
completely from the profession. They could offer guidance and support to
candidates and have more time to deal with those irritating questions we
often plague our RLOs with! Its certainly something I think CILIP need to
seriously think about - with the changes in the way we charter and
revalidation, paid post-holders may need to become a reality not an item on
our wish list.
I know the last two years there has been an explosion in the number of
chartership applications being received by CILIP, but revalidation is going
to require even more work by the volunteers. I ask myself if they can
afford to give up anymore of their already precious free time?
