Hi,

I'd set up a DPM server (grid02).
Today, I installed a DPM disk box (grid35) using yaim(2.6.0-8) and configured
it following
http://www.physics.gla.ac.uk/gridpp/datamanagement/index.php/DpmAddPool.
I have few questions.

1) dpm-gsiftp dies soon after starting
    > service dpm-gsiftp restart
    Stopping dpm-gsiftp: [FAILED]
    Starting dpm-gsiftp: [ OK ]

    > service dpm-gsiftp status
    dpm.ftpd is stopped

2) I tried to copy files using globus-url-copy. If the file was led to
grid02, it's fine. If the file was led to grid35, there were a permission problem.
The error message was:
error: the server sent an error response: 553 553
/dpm/phy.ncu.edu.tw/home/cms/tmp/test_08192005_35: Permission denied (error 13
on grid35.phy.ncu.edu.tw).

I tried to trace down the problems. I happened that dpm used dpmmgr to create
directories YYYY-MM-DD and write files on grid02. However, it used cms001 to
write files on grid35. But the directory YYYY-MM-DD was created by dpmmgr with
permission 770. Therefore, the files were failed to write to grid35. Of
course, if I changed the directory permission to 777 manually, I could write
files to grid35 using globus-url-copy successfully.

3) Then, I tried to use srmcp. I didn't have problems with grid02. But the
files couldn't be sent to grid35, even if I changed the direcotry's permission
to 777. The error messages are listed below.

org.globus.ftp.exception.ServerException: Server refused performing the
request. Custom message: (error code 1) [Nested exception message: Custom
message: Unexpected reply: 553 Could not determine cwdir: No such file or
directory.]. Nested exception is

4) I tried to set the grid02's file system to read only, while it showed a
weird result.

    >dpm-modifyfs --server grid02 --fs /storage --st RDONLY
    >dpm-qryconf
    POOL ncudpmpool DEFSIZE 200.00M GC_START_THRESH 0 GC_STOP_THRESH 0
DEFPINTIME 0 PUT_RETENP 86400 FSS_POLICY maxfreespace GC_POLICY lru RS_POLICY
fifo GID 0 S_TYPE -
                              CAPACITY 108.02G FREE 94.78G ( 87.7%)
   grid35 /storage CAPACITY 733.37G FREE 582.67G ( 79.5%) RDONLY
   grid02 /storage CAPACITY 108.02G FREE 94.78G ( 87.7%)

I dunno why it set grid35's file system to read only.

5) I was told if the files are transferred by gridftp, they can't be removed.
Indeed, I can't delete my files using edg-gridftp-rm.
When will this be fixed ?

Any ideas how to solve these problems ?

Thanks in advance,
Ming
