My profoundly deaf daughter (meningitis aged 21) tells me:
"Most profoundly deaf people have an accent if they use speech. It is
possibly to lip-read an accent and therefore, you develop that accent if you
grow up in that area. It's also the same with cued speech and lip-reading.
You can detect the difference between saying b a th and b ar th, as the lip
pattern is different."
