Junior GIS Developer
Opportunity Description:
We are seeking a junior developer to work in the GIS team of Petroleum
Services at Deloitte. The individual will primarily be responsible for
assisting with the development and maintenance of the group’s
flagship ‘PetroView’ application, delivered on MapInfo and ESRI platforms.
The role provides challenging work and the opportunity to develop a
successful career in the delivery of GIS to the oil and gas sector. As a
junior developer the successful candidate will be supported and encouraged
to develop their technical skills, taking the opportunity over time to
assume further responsibility for the technical development of the group’s
GIS services.
This post is being offered on a permanent basis in our London office.
Responsibilities will include:
• Development of GIS applications focusing heavily on ArcObjects
using Visual Basic;
• Maintenance of the existing applications and GIS code base
(MapBasic, Visual Basic);
• Development and maintenance of internal data processing software.
Experience & Technical Skills:
• Minimum two years GIS industry experience (ArcInfo, ArcSDE, ArcIMS,
ArcGIS, MapInfo);
• Minimum one year industry based technical development with ESRI
products, preferably using Arc Objects within ArcGIS;
• MapBasic development experience desirable;
• Exposure to the upstream oil industry will be of benefit, however
this is not essential.
Personal Skills:
• Excellent communication skills with both clients and internal staff;
• A flexible approach (team player);
• Good all-round technical programming skills;
• Ability to work on own initiative.
Salary up to 23K, depending on level of experience plus benefits.
