Oh well, seeing as the cat is out of the bag (out of the FISH?) ... yes
indeed. As of the end of February will be head of research into 'Human
History' at the Glasgow Museum's service.

Glasgow City Council is keen to get its curators to engage much more in
research than hitherto and to encourage academics and students to do
likewise. Their ambitious and well-funded expansion plans as well the
opportunity for closer access to friends and family means that it was an
easy choice. The only down side is that I will no longer be part of the
thriving and always challenging world of ADS, FISh and others (...though
I'm
always open to offers).

So in case I forget, I want to thank you all for your friendship, patience
and assistance over the last 6 years and to tell you that you will soon
receive a warm(er) and (yet more) friendly welcome in Glasgow. I would be
surprised and somewhat disappointed if we do not find ourselves working
together again.

You will also, therefore, notice that we are now advertising for my
original
post - that of User Services Manager. I would be grateful if you would
consider passing this advert to candidates that you think suitable. I'll
send the complete job description in a moment. Suffice to say this would
be
a first rate opportunity for a recently completed PhD student or a junior
lecturer looking to kick start their career. The opportunities are both
extensive and unique, and the working environment is supportive and
friendly. There are further details online at:
http://www.york.ac.uk/univ/mis/cfm/vacancies/vac_detail.cfm?vacno=BR05505

I am keen to pass my extensive PowerPoint collection to a good home :-)

All best wishes,

William
