UN Decade on Education for Sustainable Development - UK Launch
Tuesday December 13th 2005, Institute of Education, London
The UN Decade on Education for Sustainable Development, led by
UNESCO, was
launched in New York earlier this year. To mark the UK launch, the UK
National
Commission for UNESCO is holding a launch conference on Tuesday
December 13,
2005 at the Institute of Education, London. Speakers will include a DfES
Minister; a senior UNESCO programme specialist; and well known expert
in the
field of ESD, Professor William Scott from the University of Bath.
Break out
groups/seminars will address problems of climate change, building
skills and
capacities, culture and community and the role of the media and
information and
communication technologies (ICTs). The Conference will be chaired by
Sir
Geoffrey Holland, who is the Chief Executive and Chair of the
Learning, Skills
and Development Agency. The conference aims to be unique - not just
in linking
global and UK policies but also in the long term (10 year)
perspective it
adopts. A flyer with further information on the programme, speakers
and how to
register will soon follow. If you have any questions at this time please
contact Alex Inglis at +44(0) 207 766 3453 or by email at ainglis@una-
