National Association for Research in Science Teaching (NARST) Annual Conference
San Francisco 2006

Next year's conference will be held at the Hyatt Embarcadero in San
Francisco from Monday April 3 to Thursday April 6.  The theme of the
conference is Learning in Formal and Informal Contexts.  The call for
papers is now on the web site:

and proposals must be submitted by August 15, 2005.  A pdf version of the

There will be three types of formats for which submissions can be made -
stand alone papers, symposia or related paper sets.  In addition, this year
we will be using three modes of presentation:
 
- The Standard presentation (formerly individual paper) which will allow for 20
minutes of individual presentation time (4 papers scheduled per session for 90
min. total)

 
- The Interactive Paper (similar to the past poster session but focused in
strands and scheduled concurrently) which will be 90 minutes in duration. 


-  The Discussion Paper (formerly termed round table sessions)
allows for small group discussions but focused by strand, sessions which are
scheduled for 90 min.

Presenters can specify which is their preferred mode of presentation but
because of the pressure on space we cannot guarantee your preferred choice.

 San Francisco is one of America's most engaging cities and the climate at
that time of year is delightful.  Events planned are a reception at the
Exploratorium - the founding science centre and the conference dinner which
will be on Thursday lunchtime to close the conference. The rates for the
hotel will be $179 per night and the board looks forward to seeing as many
of you there as possible!
