Call for Nominations: Economics Network Learning and Teaching Awards
2005
We are pleased to invite nominations from the economics community for
our annual learning and teaching awards.
The awards are open to UK-based academics that have, within the
constraints that all academics find themselves under, demonstrated
excellent commitment, enthusiasm and effectiveness in their teaching
practices. There are three categories this year:
The Outstanding Teaching Award is given in recognition of exemplary
teaching practice that encourages an understanding of and inspires
interest in economics. It will be awarded to an academic who
demonstrates excellence across the five criteria of:
· course structure
· delivery
· student response
· student performance
· peer recognition

Student Nominated Award
This award provides an opportunity for economics students to identify
and honour excellent teaching practices in their department. The judging
panel will be looking for lecturers who possess some or all of the
following qualities:
· inspire and encourage student interest in economics
· challenge and motivate students towards academic excellence
· enjoy and recognise the importance of working with students and
enhancing their education out of the classroom
· have made a positive impact on the teaching community
· and whose enthusiasm for the subject is highly evident to his or
her students

The eLearning Award is for UK-based academics or teams who have
implemented eLearning successfully in the context of Economics Higher
Education. The judges are looking for entries which
· are innovative.
· meet student needs.
· are integrated into other aspects of teaching and learning
practice.
· show sound educational design and implementation.
· are applicable to the work of other university teachers of
Economics.

The closing date for nominations is 17th June 2005. The result will be
announced on 4th July 2005. Winners in each category will receive UKP250
in gift vouchers.
