Project Archivist (2 year fixed term)
About us
Transport for London (TfL) is accountable for both the planning and
delivery of London’s Buses, the London Underground, the Docklands Light
Railway, London Trams, London River Service, Victoria Coach Station and
London’s Transport Museum. As well as regulating taxis and the private
hire trade, it manages 580km of the capital’s roads, runs the central
London congestion charging scheme and works closely with the rail industry.
To offer the highest level of customer service we are currently undertaking
one of the most significant archival projects in TfL history. We are
seeking an Archivist to manage a 24 month project to list, arrange and
catalogue over 600,000 archival items held by the TfL Historical Archives
and revise the existing catalogue.
About you
You will work closely with other members of Group Archives and Records
Management to deliver a publication-quality catalogue of TfL’s Historical
Archives.
Complying with laws and other regulatory requirements you will implement
cataloguing and descriptive standards including ISAD(G) and ISAAR . You
will oversee the creation of a cataloguing style guide & develop
cataloguing processes and procedures appropriate for a use in conjunction
with a DS CALM cataloguing application
As part of project implementation you will train and supervise a team of 5
cataloguers to follow the style guide, cataloguing processes and
procedures.
You will be proactive in identifying and finding solutions for the users of
the archives and records service
You posses a Post Graduate Diploma or Master's degree in Archives
Administration and 3yrs experience as a qualified archivist.
