I forgot to add the deadline to the vacancy at Bolton Archives and Local
Studies, which is Monday 28th November 2005. Application is by
telephone/email.
Thanks.
Here is the advert, just in case:
At Bolton Archives and Local Studies we are looking for people to work on
a project sorting archival material, prior to moving it from a store in
Bolton town centre.
This will involve the sorting, listing and packing of materials in our
outstore. The project is managed by a qualified Archivist and the
successful applicant(s) will work under their supervision. This is an
ideal opportunity for anybody seeking pre-course experience before
embarking on a Masters course in Archives and Records Management. It is
estimated that the project will take five months.
Hours are flexible and pay is £7.33 per hour. The successful applicant(s)
would need to invoice us, hence would be self-employed. It is also
required that they obtain their own public liability insurance although
this will be reimbursed. Training will be given as appropriate.
The successful applicant(s) will have:
Good levels of literacy and numeracy
The physical capacity to carry out the job
(lifting/carrying/standing for lengthy periods)
The willingness to work in a dusty and dirty environment.
Some experience of working with records in an archival or records
management environment is desirable, but not essential.
