Statistical/Mathematical Modeler, Dietary Safety
£Competitive Jealott’s Hill, Bracknell, Berkshire
Syngenta is the leader in crop protection and the third largest seeds
business worldwide, with sales in 2004 of around US$7.3 billion. We are a
young company for the 21st century, yet we have years of innovation behind
us. This is your chance to join a team of more than 19,000 people in over
90 countries, all of whom are committed to helping farmers feed the world
today and tomorrow. Come and help us grow.
This is an exciting opportunity to use your modeling and statistical
knowledge to solve applied problems in a challenging research area. Working
closely with colleagues in Dietary Safety, you will develop mathematical
and statistical models to increase quantitative understanding of levels of
pesticide residues. With significant freedom to shape the project, you will
identify and solve real world problems by building on existing statistical
and data mining techniques. Equally importantly, you will communicate these
results to increase awareness and acceptance of the techniques, and develop
methods through academic collaborations. To succeed in this interesting
role, you will require a relevant PhD (or equivalent experience) and a
first degree in a quantitative science, mathematics or statistics.
Experience of databases and statistical modeling techniques is also
important, and you will have a strong aptitude for solving complex
scientific problems. Finally, excellent communication skills are essential,
as is a flexible approach to respond to
changing requirements and tight deadlines.
